When you want to add an Modern App to the company portal, you will probably start looking for it in the Microsoft Store for Business.

Most applications are there, and you can buy them for your company and then publish them in the company portal or Business Store.
However, some applications aren’t listed, so you have no way of adding them to the company portal. There can be several reasons for this, but most likely it’s either the choice of the developer (drop them a line) or, the app offers in-app purchases. The Microsoft Store for Business does not support this, so your users will need to have their own personal store account.

But what it you still want to publish the app in the company portal? Or get asked to make the app available in the Company Portal. Let’s say for this example the app in question is the recently to the store added iTunes app.

When you look for iTunes in the Store for Business, you will notice that it’s not there. Today we are going to add this app to the Company Portal.First, find iTunes in the Microsoft Store. You will see that it has a note that it offers in-app purchases. Click the more (three dots) and select share and copy the link.

How, open your browser of choice and paste the link, notice that the formatting of the link changes. Now select the new link and copy this, we will need this in Intune.

Head over to Intune and select Mobile apps and then Apps.
Select Windows as the App type and then click Configure.

Here we need to fill in quite a bit more than we’re used to when using the Windows Store for Business.

In the Appstore URL, add the URL you copied from the address bar of your browser. For iTunes this is: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/itunes/9pb2mz1zmb1s

Finish by adding the app and assigning it.

After a little while iTunes will show up in the Company Portal. This will take a bit longer than when using the Store for Business as well.

Note the different user experience, it looks like a regular app, but when you click to install, the Microsoft Store will open and your user will have to use their private account to install this app. The user experience isn’t that great in my opinion, but if you have the need to publish to the Company Portal, this is the way.
